Mardi Gras Mudslide Recipe

Mardi Gras Mudslide Recipe

Today is Fat Tuesday. While there is soccer practice and writing to be done, the holiday cannot go by without being celebrated. Although my family is not Catholic in traditions, there is so much about the history of Mardi Gras, combined with the reverence around holidays. So, I pulled in all my cool mom points and made them this Mardi Gras Mudslide recipe for breakfast today.

Do not worry. I will make them do chores and struggle through homework this afternoon and all cool mom points will be gone.

What is Fat Tuesday?

Fat Tuesday is a holiday occurring before the beginning of Lent, the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday. Basically, it is one of the biggest party in New Orleans every year. The parties, the floats and the parades all make their debut on Fat Tuesday.

While I love everything about New Orleans, being in the city during Mardi Gras has never been on my bucket list.  I do however love all of the things that have to do with Mardi Gras, which is why this mudslide recipe is amazing!

What Is In A Mudslide?

A mudslide is a traditionally alcoholic beverage with vodka, rum, ice cream and ice. I made this one for the kids and obviously left out the alcohol.

-2 cups vanilla ice cream

-1 tablespoon cinnamon

-1 cup of ice

-Caramel and Chocolate Sauce

-Add ice cream and ice to a blender.

-Top with cinnamon and blend until smooth.

-Take two chilled glasses and add a caramel rim.

-Drizzle chocolate sauce inside the glass and add extra caramel if that is your thing.

Make A Cocktail:

-If you want to make this a boozy cocktail, add 1 oz of vodka and 1 oz of Irish Cream or other coffee flavored liquor. Add it to the blender along with the ice cream and ice.
